iCheckConnection Utility

Usage and Formatting Examples

To use iCheckConnection, open a DOS box, MS-DOS Prompt or Command Prompt window (click here for instructions on opening these windows). From the command line, type the following (where <address> is the URLs, DNS names and/or IP addresses you wish to check, separated by spaces):

iCheckConnection <address>

Usage: iCheckConnection [<dns name> | <ip address>
| <https://url> | <ftp://url>]+ Tests your connection to one or more Internet sites.
Pings the sites, traces routes if packets are lost, and checks the bandwidth for ftp and http URLs.

More examples of usage and typical results:

iCheckConnection (tests all PC Pitstop servers)
iCheckConnection internic.net (pings Internic, traces route if needed)
iCheckConnection https://www.byte.com (pings www.byte.com, tests home page bandwidth)
