Purpose: SkypeNames.exe is part of Skype 4.1 for Windows browser plugin for Internet Explorer or Firefox. The browser extension is a tool that is suspose to detect any phone numbers or Skype Names on a web page and gives you the option to click-to-call them directly from the page, via Skype. There have been reports (posted on Skype's forums) that the extensions aren't working correctly and consuming a lot of CPU cycles. If you are currently experiencing such problems, you can uninstall the the program "Skype web features" from Start > Control Panel > Programs and Features.

skypenames.exe is a user invoked program and a normal part of PC operations. No action required.
