PC Pitstop Analysis

Purpose: atiptaxx.exe is a taskbar icon that lets you open the Display Properties from the system tray. It is a waste of memory and tray space since you can bring up Display Properties by right-clicking the desktop or through Control Panel.

To disable the tray icon display, click the Options tab in Display Properties and uncheck "Enable ATI Task Bar Icon". To keep it from running on boot, start MSConfig and remove the "ATIptaxx.exe" entry on the Startup tab. Note that ATIPTAXX will still be started automatically every time you use Display Properties.

atiptaxx.exe uses excessive system and memory resources with no corresponding benefit. Applications such as these should be disabled to improve overall system performance.
