| 9/14/2012 12:41:04 AM | recently the computer complained about a bad pool caller error. I first contacted safer network forum and they ran a battery of tests. My handler suspected hardware problems and sent me here. I have attempted to run chkdsk but that will fail 2% into the second of 5 checks (verifying indexes). Computer then locks up and monitor claims "no signal input". I'm worried that I've been hit with a virus or I have hardware issues (hard drive giving out). Also, I attempted to run windows backup but that also fails. The directory is created on my portable drive (1tb) but the backup fails. I'm currently back at safer networking forum as they wanted to run additional tests, but he suggested that I also use the PIT test to see what you come up with. Many Thanks for your patience. Suspect a software conflict in that Norton probably updates as other programmes are loading. I'm wary about reducing the number of start menu programmes as several of them have unfamiliar names and I don't want to make matters worse. Regualr virus scans have come up clear. |

I realize it is old but there is no reason for it to run this slowly. I had faster page loads when I was on dial-up several years ago. |
