The Dell XPS 720 is targeted at high end gamers. Configurations come with a choice of Core 2, Core 2 Extreme, or Core 2 Extreme Quad processors and SLI-capable NVIDIA nForce 680i chipsets, 800MHz DDR2 RAM (between 512MB and 8GB, RAID 5 and 0+1 HDD configurations, digital coax outs, and 300-watt graphics power sources.. Graphics options include the GTX and GTS flavors of NVIDIA's GeForce 8800 card, and you can also throw in any number of TV tuners along with a Creative X-Fi sound card, though the built-in 7.1 channel audio.

11/22/2009 10:11:39 AM Dell refuses to provide the Windows 7 drivers unique to this computer because they didn't provide Windows 7 as part of the deal. I'm speaking about the Dell proprietary programs and buss controller. We need an alternate way to get drivers without depending on Dell. I can't even see what win 7 drivers they have available because you have to identiry your system first.

4/20/2010 2:36:22 PM For some reason it tripd my Trend Micro and the only was I can get it to stop is to turn off the "Prevent Unauthorized Changes". That is something that I don't feel okay about. Any thoughts on a cure??

9/12/2009 5:10:49 AM had a problem with pass word got a soft ware that gets rid of pass word , but it instaled a floppy drive that is not in this computer tried to get rid of it throuhg set up but it comes back

1/15/2011 1:42:54 PM System cannt read the CD/DVD+-RW drive. This started about two months ago, before that everything was find. Around this same time I could not get any burner to work. A few months ago I had no problem burning disks.

2/14/2010 6:18:20 PM it was a top of the line machine from dell (xps) a couple years ago... but one of the ram units fried and its just not running up to speed lately. Slow boot times..... slow in general. Certain programs that require high processing power lag or crash more frequently.... programs load much slower than they should (office 2007 for example) ... stuff like that.

10/7/2009 12:36:51 PM Right now I'm having a power problem. I have to unplug the power cord everytime I shutdown or the PC won't boot and indicates a power problem when I push the power on button. If I unplug the power cord, the system reboots fine. Haven't figured it out yet but it appears to be a problem with the Dell XPS720 Media PC's. My warrenty is over, so they won't help me without payment and the PC is only just under two years old and we are almost seniors and our last Dell is over 10 years old and never had any problem and it's still running fine. This one is supposed to 'state of the art' and it quite frankly, sucks. But Dell hasn't issued any recalls for the power supply or the motherboards which I believe they should if they truly stand behind their reputation.

7/10/2010 5:49:02 PM Dell replaced a bad sound card and 2 of the 3 hard drives and walked us through reconfiguring. It still is not working right so we are hoping this software will help. The last thing that was installed was the VISTA SP2.
