Computer said were mismatched. removed 2-512 mb drams, leaving 2 1gb drams. machine froze after start of boot(at point where grass meadow appeared) re-entered and changed bios to reflect new Ram load, and set features to default.. Machine now boots (but at reduced RAM) slowly.
