| 4/12/2011 6:37:02 PM | The additional hard drive SATA option, now I run two 500GB Hard drives which is a big plus for me and the amount of data I can accumulate in 3 to 5 months exceeds 500GB so I can fill up the space rather quickly. Now with the two drives internal, plus external running a total of 1.765 T my storage problems are relatively solved until I change the two internal drives to 1T each combined total 2T drives at 7500 rather then 5500 rpm and up grade 8 GB DDR3 memory I will be rocking big time . One other fact pleasing me is the specs called for a i3 installed and I discover there is an i5 installed which is a bit faster which any faster processing gained in computing is a plus. I do have two complaints on other installed hardware, first the optiarc AD-7585 H was crap from the get go, finally completely stopped registering any type of disc, keeping in mind I rarely ever used it considering I use two full size externals due to their automation of the disc in and out, but on occasions needed the third optic to read additional whatever finding it unreliable and then inoperable, just recently replaced it with a newer Liteon which works superbly. It seems to function as if as it was a alternative match to the system build. I have learned though other hasty replacement of optic multi-drives that they do not always mate to the system rendering them to a limited amount of abilities, a very small amount. The other complaint is whoever produced your screen is an idiot. While using a cleaner precisely indicated as a safe method to clean screen surfaces, the seal around the screen seems to be the opposite of its intended use, being it seems to visibly indicate quite clearly of not having been properly sealed. While cleaning the screen, a small amount of fluid used to clean which is at just below evaporation level, actually seeped between the protective face screen and the actual liquid imaging screen. That is really poor workmanship and a total disregard towards any pride or quality in their manufacturing process and suggests to me there is not the slightest integrity behind the manufacture. Fortunately it is just visible on the outer leading edges, thou noticeable, it is not affecting any visuals in the center main viewing area of the screen, so for now is cosmetically damaged and it looks like crap!!! Otherwise I am pleased with my purchase and thou not impressed with the NV79C that much, I do like the internal capabilities of the NV79C improvements over the NV79, especially the increased graphics! Unfortunately the model does lack in one extra USB port, maybe not a big deal for some but for me it is a critical loss. One of several reasons choosing this model over others, while deserting from Toshiba brand to become a loyal Gateway customer. I run a rather large assortment of externals and run very expensive multi-USB port Hubs which are rarely dropped from recognition as the cheap 20 & 30 buck USB hubs do consistently. Plus some other specifics which impressed me to this model but eludes me at the moment as what exactly it was? Oh the only other wish I have is it was installed with e SATA connection, but being the Note Books manufactured today are easier to repair and a breeze access deep internal components and even simple to replace a mother board! I will upgrade one day soon when I can obtain the parts from a damaged NV79C and or NV79 with what I need to replace and improve performance to the optimum of levels reachable. Unless you would graciously consider selling recycled good used parts to adventurous individuals like me for the Green Cause. One other note is I have been a loyal Toshiba customer since 2000, which manufactured the very first laptop I purchased, that is still operating as it did when it was new. Floppy disc and all 80 GB attached to 500MB RAM memory. Amazing it still hums along just fine considering a price tag well over Two thousand when new it should! Gee what that could buy today, Just the staggering GB capacity difference and memory advancement to mass storage capacity that 1T was not even thought possible then and you are able to purchase 3T today? I do like your product, but economically a sadden fact looms, actually Gateway now is ACER which is seemingly ok, I feel undoubtedly Gateway will be absorbed into ACER completely devoured and Gateway will cease to exist. That’s sad; the two are completely different styles, and configurations and functionality. Thou competing with itself in a manner of speaking, actually you are not in the sense of being able to meet two different types of consumers, two widely different tastes and desired factions & capabilities in choosing their PC. |
